Rally season 2016 brings lot of new matters for Joonas Tokee as the youngster takes the next step in his career, when Tokee will drive the FIA ERC Junior series.
The series consists of six rallies and four best scores are calculated for each competitor’s final points.
Some of the ERC Junior drivers already drove one race in the spring, but Joonas Tokee´s season starts at the end of this week in Azores Rally.
– Our program includes four competition: the Azores, Belgium, Estonia and Latvia. Many challenging rallies are coming and the level is sure to be wildly hard, admits Tokee, who has good results from Finnish rallies.
21-year-old driver has driven so far only two rally competitions outside Finland, but his co-driver Jani Salo has acquired during his career many valuable foreign experience, including the Azores Rally.
– I doubt it is even possible to run in much finer rally scenery than we have here. Co-driver has been here two years ago, so Jani has been able to guide me about the road profiles and it has also helped us with pace note training, Joonas informed.
– In every rally we will try to get a class victory. We have to keep in mind that these events are challenging and very long, so all our skills must be put into the game.
Tokee and Salo will compete in the Azores with their own Peugeot 208 R2. Azores Rally starts on Thursday evening, and after that the program has two demanding rally days. Rally will be at the finish on Saturday night.
